Back in 2007, Michelle Goh (founder of Complete Me) was single herself, and decided to create a Facebook group, Singapore Facebook Singles, for like-minded singles.
Now, Complete Me specialises in 1-to-1 rotation speed dating events at romantic dining venues, as such events have proven to be more effective at bringing couples together.
PROFESSIONAL & DEDICATED DATING CONSULTANTSDuring your initial consultation with us at our office, your dating consultant will get to know you on a personal level and encourage you to share with her about your lifestyle, character and requirements so that she will be able to match you up with someone who’s well-suited to you.
All our matching is done manually, and the dating consultants will coordinate with both parties to arrange for the meet-up, and this extends to reserving the restaurant for the singles as well. THE EARLY YEARSViolet Lim saw a business opportunity in the competitive world where the lives of busy professionals revolve around work and the boardroom.
Membership and activity in the group skyrocketed overnight, one thing led to another, and Michelle found herself organising events for the group.
Her meticulous planning and friendly manners made her events increasingly popular. Today (as of March 2014), there are more than 2,500 members in the group. Now that she was happily married, Michelle was ready to close down the group.
A good way if you’re looking to come out of the closet and meet folks of the same persuasion.
First dates are nerve-wracking, and more so if it’s after hours – it seems too rude to leave within an hour of a bad date. The matchmaking app acts like a spiffy social media tool that allows users, typically made up of beatnik millennials, to not only network, but share photos and videos – similar to Instagram.
But there were still many single members – a few thousands of them in fact – who had yet to complete their lives with a partner.
Members of the group flooded her with pleas via calls and SMS, and managed to persuade her to continue organising events.
Further observation of her family, friends and colleagues who complained about having little time for love due to their busy schedules convinced Violet even more and led her to set up her own matchmaking company called Lunch Actually in 2004 with her then fiancé, now husband Mr Jamie Lee.
REGIONAL EXPANSIONShe has come a long way since then and her spot-on business acumen has paid off.
